Route:
An expedition through Serbian Planina, Bulgarian Rhodopes and Pirin off roads: high mountain peaks, rocks and 19th century villages with both mosques and orthodox churches. All that and breathtaking views amid secluded villages on the Bulgarian-Greek borderland. We split our journey so that you have enough time to explore not only nature but also take advantage of the off road driving possibilities. As there might be some snow high in the mountains, we decided to spend all nights in local b&b, so there will be more time for exploration and dry socks in the morning guaranteed.
During the expedition we will stay overnight in a traditional nineteenth century house, explore the marble gorge and encounter one of the best wine regions in the Balkans: prepare yourself for some of the best local food you will ever eat!
We start 100 kilometres south of Serbian Nis on Sunday morning and finish near Bulgarian-Greek border point (Kulata) around 200km south of Sofia on Saturday evening.
Requirements:
Minimum serial 4x4 vehicle, minimum MT tyres, CB radio.As we spend most nights camping you will need to have camping equipment.
We fully believe that the best expeditions are small, intimate ones so we’ve decided to limit the number of cars in the fleet to a maximum of 6 per tour.
